A breakneck race against time…and an implacable enemy.

An anonymous young woman murdered in a run-down hotel, all identifying characteristics dissolved by acid.

A father publicly beheaded in the blistering heat of a Saudi Arabian public square.

A notorious Syrian biotech expert found eyeless in a Damascus junkyard.

Smoldering human remains on a remote mountainside in Afghanistan.

A flawless plot to commit an appalling crime against humanity.

One path links them all, and only one man can make the journey.

The best thriller I have ever listened to or read.
I am 82 and have been reading mysteries and thrillers for over 60 years. The story is intense and so well narrated you can't stop listening.

What did you love best about I Am Pilgrim?

First of all, it was a great story with impeccable execution, start to finish. Hayes kept me safe the whole time. The reader was practically flawless.

What was one of the most memorable moments of I Am Pilgrim?

The way the receipt of the letters was executed.

What does Christopher Ragland bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He just nailed each of the characters. He was totally Pilgrim but did the women's voices without causing irritation and his command of a variety of accents from around the world was remarkable.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The current one, "a thriller", is about as dead on as can be had.

Any additional comments?

READ THIS BOOK! Thank you, Terry Hayes, for one hell of a ride.

Wow. This is a story that grabbed me and never let go, getting more suspenseful as time went on. You can see the description of the plot by Audible and in many reviews, so there's no need for me to repeat that. I just want to say that if you like thrillers and what I call speculative fiction, and you enjoy being swallowed up by a novel, I Am Pilgrim is the book for you.

What I will add is that author, Terry Hayes, wrote an engrossing memorable story with credible, well-developed characters. And, Christopher Ragland added to the enjoy-ability factor with a great narration. Highly recommended!

Exciting and Scary Listen!

As many other reviewer's have noted, there are many seemingly extraneous subplots going on in this book through the first 8 to 10 hours. Some of them are actually rather interesting, but it takes a while to figure out how they all connect. I think that the author could have made them a little less lengthy. Also the incredible coincidences that tie the pots together seem implausible.
However, this is a thriller! It is definitely worth listening to. You will not be disappointed if you can hang in there till hour number nine or 10.
The writing is very tight and the conversations are quite good.

Ever spent hours with and wanted more of….. is all rolled into this story between Pilgrim and the gritty “kNock Your Punk Down” -----broken but fighting to get back up----- cop.

Grab the book, plug in your ear buds and buckle up buttercups. Others have said ii starts out slow, I didn't find it to be that way. I didn't expect the turn it took right away and it was a whiplash of sorts but a GOOD whiplash.
(Dang book almost got me fired!!!)

It starts out feeling like the S.O.P. of cop shop drama:

Think Harry Bosch or Amos Decker then WHAM out of nowhere it’s the Gray Man/ Terry McCaleb/ Jack Reacher and then you look at the clock and see you lost four hours and you are going to be late for your evening shift!

Then you get to work and beg for solo work/outta public sight….. so you can stick in a small single ear bud…….so you can get back to the story!! Then you get caught up in the story while at work and forget you are suppose to get back on the floor and find your shift manager!!

Anyone who listens to audio books often KNOWS a narrator can make…or break…...even the BEST story line. The narration for this book is so spot on it should be a case study for ALL producers on how to get it right!

Best 22 hours I have invested in anything…in a LONG time! It didn't feel like a "formula method" of story telling unfolding, not one minute of feeling like "been here, heard this before". Not one instance of fighting the urge to fast forward just a bit to get the story to move faster.

Every legendary detective/rouge gvmnt agent you
