Impostor of Rome by Terry Cloutier is a great ancient historical fiction. Scott Fleming did a great job with the narration. The story is entertaining, action packed, interesting, engaging, and more. Impostor of Rome is the first book in The First Emperor series.

Excellent all the way through, highly recommend

The author, Terry Cloutier delivers a powerful and immersive start to The First Emperor Series with Impostor of Rome. From the opening moments, the story pulls you into a world of ambition, danger, and shifting identities. The pacing is sharp, the stakes feel real, and the protagonist’s journey is both compelling and unpredictable.

What stands out most is the atmosphere—the author paints ancient Rome with a raw intensity that makes every political move and personal risk feel immediate. The narration adds depth, bringing tension and emotion to life in a way that keeps you fully engaged.

If you enjoy historical fiction with a strong sense of intrigue and a protagonist you can’t quite pin down, this is an excellent listen. A bold and promising beginning to the series.

Definitely brings back the feeling of history. Excellent book very well done. I really like the narrating. Definitely recommend this book.
