The Calamitous Bob, Book Two

After crossing a magically radioactive desert and fending off a necromancer, Viv can aspire to some respite from all the horrors and foul-smelling undead. The border city of Kazar promises to be a haven where she can rest, learn how to use her new powers, and understand why she ended up in the fantastic world of Nyil. Arthur the pocket dragon and the genocidal golem Solfis are nice and all but she yearns for some human contact and look, there are plenty of humans around. With their own agenda.

Surely, nothing horrible will come to disturb her peace.

Almost lost interest, but the ending saved the series

The first one is highly entertaining. The second one was off to a good start, but the middle was bogged down by what I can only describe as a teenage melodramatic love story. I nearly DNF'd but decided to stick it out to the end. I am glad I did; the ending saved the book for me and gives me hope for what's to come in the series.

Edgy Isekai Slice of Life

As always Soundbooth Theater puts on a great performance.

While the first book in this series reads like a magical post apocalyptic survival isekai, this book was more of an isekai with an adventurer’s slice of life. Viv, aka Bob, needs her soul wound fixed and to learn magic. She goes on the occasional adventure to get closer to earning the healing she needs, but spends a lot of time in town this book. While in town she meets new characters and continues to train in magic. I can see the need for these developments to occur for the future, but it was not until the very end that a more immediate and substantial driving motivation arose.

To be honest, unlike the previous book this book feels less like a self-contained story and more like the setup for a bigger future story. It’s still worth reading if you enjoyed the first, but I liked the first book more and think I will like the third better than this one as well.

Wow! The narration is epic!

I can't wait for the next book in the series. I devoured this way too quickly! The voice for the golem and main narrator do such work! brings this world to life. I had never dipped my toes into LitRPG and didn't even know it existed as a genre. This does it so well you don't even realize that's what your listening too

Great second installment on the story of Bob

I enjoyed hearing about Bob settling into her new life and developing her talents as well as friendships. Very excited for next installment as the jeopardy continues to increase. Excellent voice acting once again!
