I'm no angel . . . or am I?
Nameless. Forgotten. Lost on Earth for centuries with a disembodied voice as my only friend. Protecting the vulnerable without any help from above. No one to explain the rules. Nada. Zip. Zilch.
So when High Angelus Gavriel finds me killing a very bad man, can he really blame me? Before I can explain, he drags me back to the place he swears is my home: Sanctuary.
Halfway between Earth and the Celestial Realm, Sanctuary would be paradise if it weren't for the daily decontamination showers, hours spent carving the murder-marks off my skin to discover my true name, and thousands of prim and proper angels who tell me I stink. Literally.
I'm the dirtiest Protector they've ever seen, but I can't stop fantasizing about Gavriel and his best friends. Those sexy-as-sin High Angeli don't know what to do with me, but I have a few ideas. I just need to find out my name so they'll see who I am deep down . . . even if I have a feeling I'm no angel.
But what happens when my name is revealed, and it's worse than anyone ever imagined?
Contains mature themes.

The storyline itself is quite unique compared to most romantasy books. The world-building leans heavily into fantasy elements centered around heaven, hell, and everything in between. The main characters are protectors with their own hierarchy and structure within their order, which adds an interesting layer to the world.
This is a why-choose romantasy, and it was interesting to watch how the relationships unfolded and how the mates came to accept one another. While some of the reasons behind how certain characters met or bonded didn’t always feel completely convincing, it wasn’t enough to ruin the story.
I did make it through book two. I wouldn’t say I’m rushing into book three, but if I’m between series and looking for something light and entertaining, I would probably continue it.
As for the narration, it was a mixed experience. The female narrator did a fantastic job—she was expressive, witty, and really captured the humor and tone of the FMC. The male narrator, however, was not my favorite. His delivery often felt monotone and somewhat robotic, and many of the characters sounded too similar, which made it difficult at times to match the voices with the personalities.
Overall, this series works well as a palate cleanser—something light, humorous, and easy to listen to when you need a break between heavier or more intense series.
