Only with the cooperation of other growers can a way be found that protects these farmers and keeps their rural families vital and in place.

Disappointment

I’m a huge Berry fan but this book was a massive disappointment. His entry into explicitly political discourse cheapened it and his legacy.

the history of tobacco in Kentucky

I really like this story about the history of Kentucky's association with tobacco and dependence on it. my family lived in Winchester, Kentucky and the stories my father told were just like those experienced by the protagonist in this book. some of the details about harvesting tobacco I had heard but I really liked to hear the whole process in total.
