America’s National Parks are cathedrals of nature, promising escape and profound peace. But for some, that promise is broken. The same vast, rugged landscapes that offer sanctuary can become the perfect place to disappear.

This gripping collection of true crime stories and chilling unsolved mysteries delves into the darkness that lurks behind the scenic vistas. Journey into the heart of these baffling cases: the #vanlife influencer whose curated dream ended in a shallow grave near the Tetons ; the honeymooning couple who vanished from their boat in the Grand Canyon, leaving behind an enduring riddle ; the loving family whose abandoned campsite marked the beginning of a terrifying discovery ; and the dedicated park ranger who walked out of the visitor center for a moment and was never seen again.

From shocking murders solved by tenacious investigators decades later to the unsettling enigma of disappearances that defy all logic, this book explores the chilling reality that the wild does not forgive, and it does not always give up its dead. What happens when a person walks into the woods and simply doesn't walk out?

For every stunning vista, there is a shadow. It is time to step into that shadow.

This author’s true crime in the wilderness are all good. The virtual voice was finally acceptable. I especially like the low male voice that has been used in all of his books that I have listened to. The voice is a relaxing counterpoint to murder and mayhem.
