Golden-age gadabout Anty Boisjoly, his valet Vickers, the weary and wary Inspector Wittersham, and a passenger list of howling eccentrics find themselves prey to the sway and spray of the Scilly Seas when what at first seems a simple, unexplainable, locked-stateroom murder twists into a tale of pirate treasure, perilous weather and treacherous endeavours at sea.

Just as with all Anty Boisjoly stand-alone stumpers, Mystery and Malice aboard RMS Ballast is best enjoyed by those who can stand some slight silliness in their maritime mysteries.

Anty Boisjoly Mysteries are old-school, clean and cosy, locked-room mysteries with improbable plots inspired by Agatha Christie written in the style of an homage to PG Wodehouse.

Great stories and narrator

This is one of the best series I’ve ever listened to. The mysteries are smart, the stories well-written and the narrator top notch. Can’t wait for the next installment.

Fun

Love the alliteration, the quick wit, the random monologues and especially, the narrator. And the parrot. Mac-caw!

FITZSIMMONS AND BRUCE ARE MAGICAL TOGETHER!!

This whole series has been such a fun listen. I love a good cozy mystery and this one totally fits the bill. The books are all set in what end up being very exotic locations, the mystery is twisty and the characters are an absolute riot! If you love word play--you have to give these a listen. Tim Bruce does an absolutely amazing job of giving life to PJ Fitzsimmons fabulous prose and characters. These stories would turn any boring, rainy day at home into a stay-cation!

Delightful!

I enjoy the Anty Boisjoly series anyway, but listening to this reading was just delightful. The various accents, including the pirate’s, were perfect. Loved it!
