A New York Times Book Review Summer Read and Edgar Award nominee! Don’t miss this unputdownable psychological thriller! Perfect for fans of Lucy Foley and Ruth Ware!
When you really start to look beyond the airy open floor plans and marble counters, Brighton Hills is filled with secrets. Some big, some little, some deadly. And one by one, they’re about to be revealed…
Listen now to the audiobook narrated by Imogen Church!
The perfect neighborhood can be the perfect place to hide…
Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…
Cora thinks her husband, Finn, is cheating—she just needs to catch him in the act. That’s where Paige comes in. Paige lost her son to a hit-and-run last year, and she’s drowning in the kind of grief that makes people do reckless things like spying on the locals, searching for proof that her son’s death was no accident…and agreeing to Cora’s plan to reveal what kind of man Finn really is. All the while, their reclusive new neighbor, Georgia, is acting more strangely every day. But what could such a lovely young mother possibly be hiding?
Looking for another heart-pounding thriller? Don't miss Seraphina Nova Glass’s next thriller, TOO CLOSE TO HOME, where an explosion and missing resident unearth dark secrets that shatter the idyllic veneer of an elite lakefront community...

The narration... (sigh) It's almost unbearable at first. After reading a few reviews that were mostly about the narration I was a little concerned. I listened to the sample and thought that if it were sped up a little, it would be much better, and changing the playback speed to 1.1 helps a LOT. I'd rather the narration be a little overdone than be robotic and boring. This starts off far more than "a little overdone". One (female) character's voice sounds like an extremely angry man, and one sounds like a 15-year-old girl from the movie "Valley Girl", but the main character sounds nice and "normal". (The main character is British and so is the narrator. I admit I was a little "burnt" by her rendition of American women.) Most of the men's characters sound like a woman imitating her husband when she's mad at him. Add to that the fact that the narration is INCREDIBLY MELODRAMATIC and it's nearly impossible to tolerate. I actually attempted to return the book halfway through chapter two because I could not stand it, but I bought the book on sale and I guess there are no returns on sale items. I thought I would at least leave a review that I couldn't stand to listen to it, but was told I hadn't listened to enough of it, so I sucked it up and continued listening. Very shortly after that, the story had drawn me in enough that I was able to overlook the narration and carry on.
THANKFULLY, the narration gets better and better as the story progresses and I was able to actually enjoy it. So, despite the awfulness of it in the beginning, the story is worth the pain and I recommend this book.
Hard to listen to at first BUT it gets better.

I chose it because it was narrated by Imogene Church but the story was so good I found a new author to read. A good read.
Interesting and unexpected
