A large family is torn asunder by accusations of supernatural mischief making. It soon becomes apparent that the eldest son has become involved with a powerful cult. The novel skips back to pagan Britain and the Celtic tribes' reaction to the newly evangelizing Christians.

The story-line was good if at times verging on unbelievable. The second book in this series seemed to be bogged down on wordy descriptions of sex. At times I felt this work could easily have been classified as soft porn if not for the exaggerated way the scenes had been romanticised. This led me to become impatient for the author to get on with it. Nope, I'm not overly sensitive and yes, I have personal pagan/wiccan beliefs - but there's more to life than sex. For me at least, the constant lapse into lengthy descriptions of sexual activity got in the way. I also felt the characters became more naive and...well, sorry folks, stupid. "And it harm none, do what ye will" got thrown right out the window. It had moments where I was dying to find out what was going on, and moments where I just wanted to slap someone silly. Worth a credit. Nicholas Camm always does a good job with narration.

Way too fixated on physical relationships
