Early 11 Century CE. King Rājarāja Chōḷa-I is in the process of building a monumental temple for Lord Shiva at his capital city, Thanjāvūr in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, deep in the recesses of Chēra forests (modern Kerala), an old enemy is hatching a sinister conspiracy against the king to settle some scores.
