Princess Ruthella Victoria Woodlen is the embodiment of ingenuity, perseverance, and goodness. One day when she is 12, a harsh storm rocks the kingdom, taking her father King James in the process. In the years that follow, her mother is made to marry Jon, a local Duke. Unfortunately Jon is power-hungry and cruel, and his sons are no better.

Ruthella tries to use her inner strength, kindness, and patience to influence them but is not successful. Undaunted, she realizes it is the system that can change. But it won’t be easy. Dismantling patriarchy is not light work.
