The characters are well developed. The narrator's portrayal of the characters and capturing each is very well done. While I am not necessarily able to relate to the struggles found in this book, I can project how I might feel in the struggles this family went through. I look forward to reading the other books in this series. Overall, I very much enjoy reading this book.

Wonderfully done.

My reading tastes have mellowed over the years, and I’m not much into romances anymore. But I know the narrator, Annie Donnellon, having met her several years ago through the ACB Community, and I’ve enjoyed and reviewed other books she has recorded. So, I figured this one was worth a try.

As always, Annie’s narration is flawless. Her enthusiasm shows, as she differentiates between narrative and dialog and gives strong female and male characters distinct voices. As with other books she narrates, you can tell she enjoys what she’s reading. I found myself enjoying this book as well. It was hard to put down.

Saving Grace’s Prodigal isn’t your typical romance where boy meets girl, they make love, they develop a relationship, they break up, then get back together again at the end. Granted, there’s a little sex but not the romantic kind. There’s also some violence, but descriptions of that and sex aren’t graphic. You don’t see the couple become romantically involved until closer to the end.

I like how the author inserts religious references without being too preachy. I couldn’t help laughing at Pamela’s evangelistic antics. Dr. Pete’s desperate prayers for Peggy tugged at my heart.

Though this is the first book in the series, the ending ties things together nicely, and you don’t need to get the next book right away to find out what happens. I had an idea of how the book would end halfway through it, but it was interesting seeing how it played out. If you like a short, faith-based romance with a lot of action and a little fantasy, I recommend Saving Grace’s Prodigal. Thank you for reading.
