Death follows Riley Harper like an unwelcome visitor. Yet this time, her goal is to save a life from his cold embrace rather than ushering it into the great beyond.

The king's assassins have marked the governor of Havan for death, but the elusive Viper sends Ocken and Riley to kidnap her for his own machinations.

As the events unfold, the pair soon discover that they aren't the only ones after the governor, and what should have been a simple job turns into a convoluted scheme with far-reaching ramifications.
