This third part of Story of Mahabharata completes the story of the largest epic of world in simple language, as written originally by VedaVyas.
Like the First and second parts of the story, this part is presented in clear and simple language.
This part starts after Pandava have completed their thirteen years in exile including last year in the kingdom of Virat, where Abhimanyu got married with daughter of Virat. The book starts with an amazing narration of the desire for peaceful co-existence by Yudhishthira and his brothers, the proposal for peace by Sri Krishna, and adamant behavior of Duryodhana not ready for righteous and peaceful solutions.
This part narrates the advice of Vidur to Dhritarashtra for righteousness, which is famous as Vidur Niti, and the great speech of Krishna in the Kaurav Sabha. As his proposal failed and Duryodhana thought of capturing Krishna, he was forced to present his Virat roop in the Sabha.
Krishna last effort for peace via talk with Karna is a great study in respect of dharma perceived by both of them.
Then, Kunti also disclosed her relation with Karna aiming to stop the inevitable war.
Each part of the peace effort and then preparation for war is awesome in narration. And before the great war between the smaller force of truth vis a vis a larger force standing in the side of untruth, we are blessed by God with his greatest teaching of Bhagavad-Gita.
This book provides wonderful account of each stage and each step of the great war. You may enjoy the final win of Truth and righteousness, supported by the divine strategies of Krishna. But reading of daily war from morning to evening starting with formation of Vyuha to calling the forces back to tent gives us the feeling of our own presence in the Kurukshetra.
Moreover, we now know each of the warrior more clearly. As against the summarized stories, the book develops complete picture of each of the characters. None is completely Black or White during this great war, everyone is of mixed shade.
Breaking of the false conception of someone of entirely negative and some entirely positive traits is a great takeaway from this book.
All great heroes, Bhishm, Drona, Kripa, Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Duryodhana, and Karna possess amazing shades of greyness. Even Duhshasan, Duryodhan and Shakuni are full of good qualities, while Yudhishthira also resorts to false statement.
At the end, we feel the pain with Bhishm accepting death, end of Krishna and Dwarka, and Pandava ascending to Svarga leaving Hastinapur under Parikshit under Yuyutsu as regent.
Each part of this story invites you for thorough reading, and the story as a whole leaves a sense of fulfilment. Check yourself the blissful experience of reading the story of Mahabharata written by Kishore.
Own the book as you would like to read the book several times.
