She had four more children of her own, experiencing love and loss during a time of great deprivation. She survived through grit, determination, work, and the help of women across ethnic and class lines.

Enriched with vintage photos and original recipes, the book offers listeners an emotional story and an intimate window into Minnesota life in the first half of the 20th century.
