Matthew Cole has carved his way to the 40th floor, and the labyrinth is done being easy.

Armed with a new spell that can wipe a room in a single cast, a time-warping ability called OverDrive, and a party of five women whose combat instincts outstrip his own, Matthew should feel confident. He doesn't. The monsters are getting stronger. The boss rooms now spawn two bosses instead of three adds. And somewhere past the 44th floor, something is waiting that even Roxanne can't dodge.

But the labyrinth isn't the only battlefield. An imperial bestowal drags Matthew into noble politics he doesn't understand, a 107-year-old elven matriarch interrogates him over tea, and every merchant in the capital seems to know his business before he does.
