Set against the turbulent background of 17th-century Cornwall, the narrative tracks contemporary historical events that ripped at the social fabric of Southwest Britain.

It is a tale of tragedy. Of Black Death. Destroying inland villages and uprooting the pillars of faith. Of incursion. Murdering or enslaving coastal villagers, leaving rapacity and smoking ruin in its wake.

It is a tale of grief. Of darkness versus light embraced by two widowers. And the faith that reunited them to chase away the shadow.

And it is a tale of redemption. Of the healing magic of Christmas. In the divine gift we celebrate as The First Nowell.
