Is it possible to be a good person and yet still be connected to great evil?

On the day that his twin sons Jarrod and Joshua are born, Alexander Sinclair, an ambitious botanist, travels to a beef-cloning facility in Santa Fe, New Mexico to meet its visionary, enigmatic aging founder, Karl Helmick.

Over the next twenty-one years, Alexander and Karl collaborate on incredible scientific breakthroughs which make both men wealthy beyond their wildest dreams as Karl becomes friend, mentor and father-figure to Alexander while Karl's cruel, sadistic son, Josef, clashes repeatedly with Jarrod and Joshua.

The longer Alexander knows Karl, the more he realizes that his friend is not who he appears to be. As Alexander increasingly grapples with Karl's mysterious connection to the Third Reich, he and his wife Kate must rethink how they define good, evil and personal responsibility while they and their sons come face to face with one of the greatest evils of all time.
