New York Times bestselling author Steven Erikson continues the beloved Malazan Book of the Fallen with this first book in the thrilling Witness sequel trilogy, The God is Not Willing.

Many years have passed since three warriors brought carnage and chaos to Silver Lake.

Now the tribes of the north no longer venture into the southlands. The town has recovered and yet the legacy remains.

Responding to reports of a growing unease among the tribes beyond the border, the Malazan army marches on the new god’s people. They aren't quite sure what they're going to be facing.

And in those high mountains, a new warleader has risen amongst the Teblor. Scarred by the deeds of Karsa Orlong, he intends to confront his god even if he has to cut a bloody swathe through the Malazan Empire to do so.

Further north, a new threat has emerged and now it seems it is the Teblor who are running out of time. Another long-feared migration is about to begin and this time it won't just be three warriors. No, this time tens of thousands are poised to pour into the lands to the south. And in their way, a single company of Malazan marines . . .

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Erikson burnishes his reputation as a superior epic fantasy world-builder... Erikson’s outstanding descriptive skills ... enhance a complicated narrative that sweats the details. This is a treat both for Erikson’s returning readers and lovers of George R.R. Martin-style epic fantasy who have yet to discover his work.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“A master of lost and forgotten epochs, a weaver of ancient epics.”—Salon.com

“A multilayered tale of magic and war, loyalty and betrayal. Complexly drawn characters occupy a richly detailed world in this panoramic saga.”—Library Journal

This is a really good story and the narrator makes it even better. The voice acting brought the characters to life. People have whined about how the narrator pronounces Malazan…just to be clear this narrator is the first one to pronounce it correctly. Also, stop being an idiot arguing such a ridiculous point. Bottom line, the story is really good (you feel like you are in the same world as the previous books, good continuity) and the narration is superb.
If you like a good story and quality narration-get this.
If you don’t like a good story and quality narration-I am sad for your soul.

Really Good

Brutal, violent, and sometimes difficult to endure, this book nonetheless touches the reader with wholesome and heartfelt emotion punctuated at times with some of the most witty and humorous writing Erickson has used in any of his books. Emma Gregory is fantastic in her narration, as well. Highly recommended!

Brilliant

Just when you think the Malazan well will run dry… wrong! This book introduces old players you will remember fondly… and new players that will threaten to take over the top spot in the Malazan universe.

I have listened and enjoyed all narrators to date. And they were great. This one is better. Yes, the names/places are pronounced differently than you are used to if you listened to the other narrators. Takes a minute to get used to. But this is how the author intended the pronunciation. And this narrator delivers a lot of passion. It’s a joy to listen to. Give it a shot. You will not be disappointed.

Another Excellent Malazan Book! THE BEST NARRATOR YET!!!!!

it was a decent Erikson story. First time he has used a female narrorator...have to say I quite enjoyed her voices.

solid book. we will see where the trilogy goes.

I feel like I'm being generous giving this four stars, and that's probably based on how much I have enjoyed the other books from the Malazan world. I had pretty high expectations for a book about Karsa Orlong, so I'm kind of disappointed on that front. There's plenty of action, but it really felt like more of an intro or build up to the real story. Also, there were a couple of times I was a little confused about what was going on and where that what was happening. Overall I enjoyed it and the narration was solid, but not one of my favorites from Erikson.

Good but somewhat disappointing
