When the Memory Lattice denies the existence of his childhood home—an entire city called Lumenford—Kai realizes the system he serves has not merely lost history. It has rewritten it. As unauthorized memories surface and the authorities begin to watch him closely, Kai is forced underground into a black market of forbidden recollections and ghost cities.

What he finds there is worse than deletion. Fragments of Lumenford still survive—alive, reactive, and dangerous—embedded with a residual intelligence that remembers being destroyed.

As the Lattice closes in, Kai must decide whether preserving the truth is worth becoming an anomaly himself. Because if a system can erase a city, it can erase a person just as easily.
