The Locket

Kate Chopin is a key female voice in 19th-century literature and was one of the earliest female authors of Southern Catholic background. Chopin’s stories of love, lust, and romantic struggle were her most captivating, and few reach the power and craft of "The Locket", first published posthumously in 1969 in the collection The Complete Works of Kate Chopin.

The short story focuses on two lovers torn apart by the American Civil War and the locket that inexorably binds them together.
