Generals during World War II usually stayed to the rear, but not Matthew Ridgway and Maxwell Taylor. During D-Day and the Normandy campaign, these commanders of the 82nd "All-American" and the 101st "Screaming Eagle" Airborne Divisions refused to remain behind the lines and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their paratroopers in the thick of combat. Jumping into Normandy during the early hours of D-Day, Ridgway and Taylor fought on the ground for six weeks of combat that cost the airborne divisions more than 40 percent casualties.

The Paratrooper Generals is the first book to explore in depth the significant role these two division commanders played on D-Day, describing the extraordinary courage and leadership they demonstrated throughout the most important American campaign of World War II.

The story was riveting, the person who delivered the audio read was very mechanical in his delivery. I found it hard to concentrate on the store.

Great story audible delivery left a lot to be desired.

Good book. I recommend this book if you like Miltary History. Again these Generals fought from the front. I just wonder if today commanders fight from the front anymore where they can to shot st.

Evan's Review

The author writes like he is filling out a police report. Just the facts sir. The guy reading it is British and so he pronounces many words with the British pronunciation and thereby drives the verbally advantaged American nuts. Also there is very little insight into the actual subjects of this book

Badly written, badly performed

You feel like you are right there next to each of the heroes who fought during the war.

An exciting account of a little known section of the military.
