Alice Taylor's parish, like others in rural Ireland today, faces many challenges. As once-small towns and villages turn into suburban sprawls, can the original heart still pump life into its extended limbs? With her unique ability to capture everyday things, Alice Taylor brings us into her own parish.

This world, although dedicated to the common good, is not without its conflicts. It is a story, too, of personal loss and grief - of the loss inflicted by death on both individuals and communities - but also of the consolation of a community coming together to share in their collective mourning. In a series of vignettes of life in her own village, Alice Taylor reasserts the priorities of public space and social community.
