unique telling of a familiar genre

The Tartan Swap by Kimber H. Kinkaid was the 41st and 42nd book I read this year. I did an immersive read for this unique historical romance.

Alyssa steps up when her cousin refused to marry the person she's arranged to marry, and Alyssa marries the laird without him realizing it was her. They have to learn how to get past the dishonesty that caused their marriage while Tryss (her new husband) is in the middle of a clan war.

This novel is written in a mixture of English and Scots, giving it an interesting feel that puts you right into the highlands. The narrator's Scottish brogue ties it all together. All the twists and turns had me talking, and sometimes yelling, back to my phone.

There are only a couple of spicy scenes, but only one of them gets into much detail; there is much more of a focus on their romance.

The Tartan Swap is the first novel in an unreleased series, so you'll have to stay tuned for the next saga in the lives of Clan MacCraith.

Romance! War! And BANTER BANTER BANTER!

This is NOT your average Highland Romance. It's not "feisty highland lass meets brooding hero #127". This is SO much more. This author knows banter, tension, passion, intimacy and did I say banter yet? Paul Woodson was the correct performer for this book. There is none other that would have done justice to this huge manuscript.

Alyssa and Tryss are absolutely epic. Fergus steals the show many times and I loved how he was written.

On Amazon this book as listed as part of a saga book 1. I hope that means there is a book 2, 3, 4, 5 and on and on. This book hooks!

A million/ten!!!

This book has everything, and the narration performance made it even better. Spicy romance, poetic writing, fierce love, brutal war, and all the secrets. I can't wait for the second audiobook to come out. A million out of ten, will always recommend!

Good

Tryss and Alyssa are beautiful together. Their fury with each other changes into love for each other despite their difficulties with the lies trying to tear them apart. The accent for the audiobook was so fantastic, it pulled me into the world easily. People who love Scottish brogue and Celtic romances should listen/read this!
