When Elizabeth visits Hunsford to see her friend Mrs. Collins, she is forced to endure Mr. Darcy's presence once more. On one of their walks, she reveals to him how heartbroken Jane has been since Mr. Bingley's abandonment—which was news to Darcy. Acting quickly, Darcy sends a letter to Bingley in London, informing him of Jane's presence there and urging him to renew his acquaintance.
