When a guy tries to roofie her, young surgeon Ryn Wilkie is catapulted onto a parallel Earth that’s at the technological level of the late 1800s.

Confronted with a society where women's voices are stifled and medical advancements are non-existent, Ryn's despair turns to determination when she discovers her ability to flip between worlds.
Can she leverage her abilities to advance their technology and challenge those deep-seated gender biases, or will the weight of their traditions prove insurmountable?
And, can she stop the guy who attacked her before he hurts other women?

I wasn’t sure what to expect but really liked the characters and storyline. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Interesting story!

Awesome story about an OP heroine with isekai abilities. It also has a hint of time travel because she travels to a world where fashion, medicine, technology, etc… has seen no progress. I like how they were awed by the heroine. It feels good to read a story where nothing goes wrong or if it does, you know the heroine will always win.

P.S. Upside or downside, there’s no hint of romance.

LOVED IT!

I listened to the AI version and found it wanting the human touch. The overall story is great, with touches of the Hillis family abilities. I can't wait for book 2 with a human narrator.

Much better with a human narrator.

I have probably listened to at least 100 hours of Laurence Dahner's books. They have all been fantastic and this book and series is no different. I enjoy his world building and characters. The books I am familiar with so far all focus on special senses/powers. I love that Dahner's sense of justice aligns with mine and that the bad guys get what's coming to them. Also, it is a joy to be there when his characters explore and get to know the full extent of their senses/powers. He was originally an orthopedic surgeon at a teaching hospital and I am fascinated by the medical aspects of his books. Most other authors have to resort to rushed, high level descriptions of illnesses and medical procedures but Dahners treats the reader to detailed and accurate descriptions of the workings of the human body. Overall, I just really like to read books by an intelligent person with a strong imagination and an eye towards the importance of good editing and narration.

In response to another review I just want to say that as a man with multiple advanced degrees I have spent my life surrounded by other men from locker rooms to the halls of academia. I find Dahner's bad guy characters to be highly realistic. Many men are vile and have vile thoughts and opinions about the opposite sex. Additionally, many men express those opinions openly when women aren't around. Sure, it may not be all but it is plenty. Besides, Dahner's books need bad guys for the plot and those characters are appropriately men. It's not reverse sexism to have the characters in this series be strong and intelligent women, in others of his many books the main characters are intelligent men. Further, as someone who is not a follower of evangelical Christianity I find it utterly appropriate that Dahner's does not endorse a particular religious viewpoint. Not everyone in his audience is Christian (there are a lot of other faiths) or even religious at all.

Loved this book!

The narrator makes these women sound way too naive for their circumstances. The roommate is supposed to be smart enough to be a doctor and comes across as a giggling valley girl.

Good Premise but Boring
