Die Dunkelheit war blass vom Regen und der Fremde war kaum mehr als ein Schatten. Nur sein Gesicht leuchtete zu Meggie herüber.
In einer stürmischen Nacht taucht ein unheimlicher Gast bei Meggie und ihrem Vater Mo auf. Am nächsten Morgen reist Mo überstürzt mit Meggie zu ihrer Tante Elinor, die eine wertvolle Bibliothek besitzt. Dort macht Meggie eine überraschende Entdeckung. Und schon bald begreift sie, dass ihr Vater in großer Gefahr schwebt...

Der Sprecher:
Der Schauspieler Rainer Strecker, der auch "Tintentod" und "Tintenblut" interpretierte, entführt seine Zuhörer in eine abenteuerliche Welt. Ulrich Maskes Musik, mal meditativ, mal hochdramatisch, bietet Stationen zum Reflektieren zwischen den Kapiteln.

So vielschichtig ist dieser Roman, so komplex, prall und mit buntem Leben gefüllt, dass man gebannt zuhört und nicht mehr abschalten kann.

wonderful story, fantastic narration

My first book with Rainer Strecker. He brought the characters to life (no pun intended!).

Lovely story, frustrating music

Any additional comments?

Positives: I read this book as a child in german and fell in love with the story. Now listening to it was great, felt very nostalgic. I loved the story as much as the first time and the narrator did a decent job. I liked the fact that he changed his voice per character and although he did not always manage, tried to keep them the same each time.



Negatives: The narrator sometimes had trouble holding a character but what most frustrated me is that I often listen to audiobooks out loud whilst cleaning etc. I was anxious for every time the music would come as it was so annoying and so loud that I would always have to stop what I was doing to turn it down (trying to avoid annoying everyone around me). I really wish there was an option to purchase this without the music or just to put i off, because it really ruined the experience for me. I bought the second book at the same time and now just got through it with exactly the same feeling. Very frustrating!!

Great book, irritating music

Great book, masterful narration. but like the others, I find the music that plys between chapters to be distracting and alienating.

Great story, good reading voice but annoying musical interludes between each chapter

We really enjoyed the book. And the narrator was great as well. The only critique that we have is that between every chapter was a 1 to 2 minute musical Interlude. That was really frustrating and made the book much longer. We skipped it every time, but that also meant you couldn’t just put the phone away and enjoy the story.

well narrated annoying music between chapters

the annoying music based on the same ridiculous them kept me from fully getting into the story and also relaxing. i forwarded. otherwise i enjoyed the narrator. and the story itself is fun enough and well written for children's/ youth novel
