In my extended family, when a call comes in the middle of the night, it means someone’s died, and I usually already know the dead one stopped by for a visit. But the night it rings without a ghost checking in, I know trouble lies ahead. And boy, does it. My best friend Mel’s daughter, Sarah, is in jail, accused of her best friend’s murder. And she wants me to bail her out—without telling her mother. Uh, nope. That kind of secret can’t be kept, and honestly, that would be impossible for me. Now we’re in hot pursuit of the real killer, with help from a surprising spirit, we’re stepping one law enforcement toes and breaking laws to find them. And we will because Sarah is family, and that’s what you do for family. Even if it means one of us doesn’t survive.
