So much to learn!

After watching several series on Netflix about Yoruba spirituality, I was intrigued to learn more from this book. This audiobook is well organized and very easy to understand. I noticed that the audiobook mispronounced some of the deities compared to the other mediums that I had listened to. I found the perspective the narrator brought across of what the religion to be about to be quite different than my own, and because of this audiobook, I definitely want to learn more. My favorite section was explaining about how the baboab tree interplays with this spirituality.

What a beautiful book.

This is a beautiful and well-written book filled with a wealth of knowledge about Yoruba and the gifts this religion has to offer. The best thing I learned was about how identity and destiny are interwoven as is the individual and the community. In Yoruba, one 'finds' themselves by finding their calling or destiny within the community, in service to the community. I also liked the thought that if 'God' which the Yoruba call 'Alojamir' (excuse my spelling) approves of something than that thing will be easy to accomplish, while if something is not approved of...it will be hard to accomplish. Makes you think twice! If you love interesting books about spirituality, this book is absolutely wonderful! The narration is also very good and easy to listen to.
