Reseñas de la Crítica

" Zero Waste Home is an amazing story of personal transformation. It compels us to recognize that our heedlessly wasteful ways are not gateways to prosperity and convenience, but barriers to a good life and a healthy planet. Bea Johnson has produced an invaluable resource." (Edward Humes, author of Garbology)

There were a few times that the audiobook kept in reading mistakes but it didn’t really bother me any or interfere with the understanding or enjoyment of the read.

This will def be a book that I read again &/or refer to!

The narration had some editing issues, and perhaps a French narrator would have better suited for this book since the author’s French nationality was an important point in the book. Bea thoroughly explained every step and aspect readers needed in order to start their own zero-waste journey. I also appreciated that she addressed of her own privilege in accessibility, and how she incorporated realistic and affordable ways to be truly zero-waste without buying into greenwashing. I definitely plan to purchase a physical book to more easily share with friends, and use as a reference when tackling specific topics (and recipes!)

A great guide to starting a zero-waste lifestyle

The book went from the general to the specific. I was into the general. The author is honest, and admitted whenever a certain measure, though it sounded good, became impractical.

I said 'stop gap' because these measures will be useful until mass production is zero waste (and mass production in advanced societies is needed, which will relegate the knowledge in this book to the 'arts' - not necessary, but optional, yet arts that should be more widely known, since they will apply again in the Microcosm Age (a distant future).

Lacking is higher life guidance (for example, assume you achieve zero waste, then what? Dance around the Maypole?). See the Philosophy of Broader Survival for that higher life guidance, and you will have a better (broader) perspective on why you should bother to do anything at all.

Good Stop Gap Arts at the Home Level

Some of the suggestions made me roll my eyes or laugh out loud at their absurdity. But a funny thing happened by the end of the book. Many of her waste saving ideas began to feel like they made perfect sense and required minimal effort. I started by remembering to bring one of my dozen or so reusable tote bags to the grocery store. Next thing you know, I've purchased a second hand sewing machine and I'm making reusable toilet paper, panty liners and cloth sandwich bags.

Note: I've downloaded two audiobooks a month since 2013 and this one, hands down, wins the prize for sloppiest editing. Ignore it the best you can and don't let it distract from the excellent content.

Laughable yet life changing
