Thomas Williams is a former police detective from Chicago. He was the youngest detective that the department has ever had, and was extremely skilled at his job. After investigating a series of murders with his older partner, Detective Bishop, all the evidence seemed to point to the most unlikely of suspects. His very own partner.

As Thomas watched his partner get locked up behind bars, he was determined to find enough evidence to set him free. Due to the severity of the case, and the mounting evidence against him, Detective Bishop was quickly moved through trial, and delivered to the electric chair. Convinced he was a failure, Thomas had no choice but to turn in his badge, and walk away.

Seven years later, a young woman named Molly appears at Thomas’ door. Her brother had just been arrested for two new murders, and all the evidence points to him. Determined to prove his innocence, Molly came to persuade Thomas to leave the country, and return to Chicago to help solve her case. It doesn’t take long for Thomas to see the similarities between these murders and the ones long ago, and he’s convinced that the killer is still out there.

Thomas and Molly begin their own investigation, studying the first murder, and moving on to the next. Thomas knows there will be a third, but with her brother behind bars, he’s beginning to doubt himself. As he recalls the events of the past, and takes note of the changes in the present, Thomas thinks that this case is more than meets the eye. When he himself becomes a target of attack, he realizes that the killer will stop at nothing to destroy him. But Thomas is unwilling to walk away, and is determined to uncover the real killer once and for all. Will the case that began seven years ago finally be solved? Find out, in 1940.
