Martha King is overweight and lacking in confidence but her family is wealthy. Jacob Yoder decides that she would make a great match for his only son Isaac. However, Isaac isn't keen on the idea.

Martha King has begun to think that she will never find a husband. Her problems with overeating began when her father died when she was young. Food was her comfort and her only friend. The more comfort she looked for, the bigger she got. She is the subject of constant barbs and whispers, she pretends she can't hear it. But she does.

Jacob Yonder decides that the wealthy young Martha would make an excellent match for his only son, the handsome Isaac. However, Isaac has had his sights firmly set another for many years. Yet his father won't take no for an answer.

As their parents attempt to push them together Martha and Isasc both come with schemes to avoid the match.

When Martha runs into a mystery man from the past with his own self-confidence issues everything in her world changes.
