Green tea, early morning walks, and Tai Chi have been integral parts of Karen McLaren’s lifestyle ever since she retired to Spain’s Costa del Sol. The bookshop owner, part-time sleuth, and expert lip-reader is a stickler for routine. As she sets out, she mulls her long list of plans for the day ahead…

…finding the body of a man on the beach at the base of cliffs the isn’t one of them.

Though local police rule the death a suicide, Karen remains unconvinced. So, along with her group of friends from the Club Britannia complex for the over-60s, she begins to investigate.

The more Karen and her amateur detectives look into the case, the more things don’t add up. With every clue they uncover, they realise there’s far more to the incident than they thought at first. Eager for an explanation, they find themselves on an unavoidable collision course with Comisario Hernandez. But, if they can uncover the truth, it seems like a price worth paying.

How did a simple retirement plan of fine wine and Spanish sunshine grow so complicated?

Author promise: this cosy mystery does not contain any gore, violence, or profanity. Nor does it contain any scenes of an explicit nature.

A Crimson Conspiracy is a series prequel. If you enjoy cosy mysteries, then check out the rest of the series too!

I enjoyed this mystery as I always do with this author. However, there are some inconsistencies that I found annoying.
This story was advertised as a PREQUEL. But there are many references to things that have occured in LATER stories. I don't mind reading a Prequel that an author decided to write/publish after a series, but try not to reference later events
I also do not like that the app asks for a performance rating. It was virtual voice. I do not want to negatively affect the stories score because of a computer. So I gave it a 5.
