A Chance to Die is a vibrant portrayal of Amy Carmichael, an Irish missionary and writer who spent fifty-three years in south India without furlough. There she became known as "Amma," or "mother," as she founded the Dohnavur Fellowship, a refuge for underprivileged children.

Amy's life of obedience and courage stands as a model for all who claim the name of Christ. She was a woman with desires and dreams, faults and fears, who gave her life unconditionally to serve her Master.

Bringing Amma to life through compelling biographical narrative, Elisabeth Elliot urges readers to examine the depths of their own commitment to Christ.

Simply masterful. Was Amy Carmichael perfect, she would be the first one to tell you, of course not. But was her heart and will given completely to God, absolutely. The story truly shows what God can do with someone who gives up everything and says Lord, here am I, send me. A marvelous read. So encouraging. We know that With God all things are surely possible and Amy, one who took God at his word is certainly a great example of that. God help us to never shrink back in fear.

The author did a masterful job as well putting together Amy's life story. The reading of it was done superbly as well as the writer, the granddaughter of the author. I did slow it down to 90% and it was perfect. I couldn't recommend this book more highly. God use us to have a heart for you. Buy it, it will be a part of God's life change for you.

Liked the pace, liked the straightforwardness without vocal drama which can be distracting. Fitting quality for referring to Amy.

Amy’s steadfastness

This book was phenomenal! it showed what a deep love for God produces. it produces a life which denies self and has a growing love for God and all people. This is only done by the grace of God through God's children.

Very Impactful!

It is impossible to put into words of review the tender urging to love, really love, Jesus and others as did Amy Carmichael other than to commend this elegant and clear account so honorably written by Elisabeth Elliott.

An account to be read and read again, and to likewise listen to in the beautifully spoken audio by Elisabeth Elliott’s granddaughter.

I like to have the richest writings in hardback and in audio so that I can revisit them at will. My eyes and mind see some things while my ears hear other things. Much here to savor and invite to seep into my soul.

The book was informative and interesting. I enjoyed that Amy’s weaknesses were mentioned as well as her strengths. I have not studied Amy’s life, but hope this was a well rounded view of her.

I enjoyed the performer, and thought she was chosen well for this narration.

A fascinating life
