When Nicole Rayburn adds a historic bookshop to her list of promotional venues, she meets the owner, Deborah Dolan, who’s desperate to discover what happened to her Victorian ancestor. A well-respected playwright, Edgar Hilliard seemingly had it all: professional success, a thriving business, and a loving family, but according to family lore, Edgar walked out one night, never to return, an unfinished manuscript his only legacy to future generations.

Deborah’s obsession with Edgar borders on the unhealthy, but despite her better judgment, Nicole can’t seem to walk away from this new challenge and enlists the help of her friend, Dr. Quinn Allenby to solve the mystery. Nicole and Quinn are determined to discover what happened to Edgar, but their search for answers is hindered by unexpected personal obstacles that threaten to alter the course of their lives forever.

Her attention to detail was superb.
I could see myself back in those timeframes and felt the joy and sorrow of each character.
The narrator was perfect.

Out of all the books, I think this one took me a while to get into. Overall, the story is great. She has hard to focus on.

I really enjoy this author. this was a busy kind of read, though. There seemed to go back and forth a little bit of confusion, but I love the story of grace. And how her life ended.

A fabulous mystery within a mystery. Irina Shapiro never disappoints with her multilayered mysteriez! This one kept me up at night as I found my brain trying to sort out all the clues while attempting to fall asleep. The audiobook provides a wonderful experience for the listener to insert themselves into the story and feel as if they are standing on the sidelines watching the story play out! While I greatly appreciate the wonderful talent if the author, I also greatly appreciate her employing a true narrator to tell her story as opposed to using the cheaper Virtual Voice. (In my opinion, Virtual Voice lacks the humanity necessary to create a truely relatable story).
