Writer-in-residence Penelope Parish will need to use every trick in her quaint British bookshop to unravel a murderous plot that threatens to ruin a ducal wedding.

The wedding of the duke and duchess of Upper Chumley - on Stoke has all the makings of a fairy tale, complete with a glowing bride and horse-drawn carriage. But it wouldn't be much of a story without a villain, and as American Gothic novelist Penelope Parish is coming to learn, happy-ever-afters are as fraught in this charming British town as they are in her books.

When the duke's former girlfriend is found murdered at the reception, it's up to Penelope and her newfound family at the Open Book bookshop to catch the killer before they strike again.

A Fatal Footnote is the 2nd book in Margaret Loudon’s The Open Book Mysteries and both books in the series are fantastic! Exactly what I love in a cozy mystery! The characters are likable and interesting. The cozy mystery kept me guessing until the end. There is friendship, family, and potential romance. The main character, Penelope (Pen) Parish has common sense most of the time. Pen and a few of her friends have been invited to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Upper Chumley-on-Stoke. During the reception a guest is found dead and another guest is found dead later on. There are a reasonable number of suspects. Pen’s sister Beryl arrives on her doorstep which rounds out the characters. Pen works at The Open Book Bookstore with Mabel and Figgy. Brody McGuire is a Police Detective who Pen likes. The characters are what makes this cozy mystery so very enjoyable! I had the audiobook, narrated by Marnye Young and it is very well done! It is easy to follow and the characters are easy to differentiate. #AFatalFootnote
