Mark Phillips has no intentions of celebrating Christmas ever again. Not after the tragedy that ruined his family forever. His chip on his shoulder suits him just fine, and makes everyone in town know better than to cross him. That is, until he has a run-in with the new teacher in town and her adorable pup. She seems determined to bring sunshine into his life, whether he wants it or not.

Christie Wilcox’s having a hard time fitting in at her new job, not to mention the small town she moved to. To help cure her loneliness, she gets a puppy as an early Christmas gift for herself. He might be the cutest thing she’s ever seen, but he seems determined to embarrass her all over town. The worst, is when her golden retriever runs smack into the grumpy deputy everyone’s told her to avoid. But something about him makes her want to get past his prickly demeanor to see what lies beneath.
