What disappointed you about A God Against the Gods?

I have three hours left of this book, but I can't go on. It is read so badly that I can't tell whether its the narration or the writing that makes the book unbearable. I stuck to it this far hoping its going to pick up. No. It is uniformly boring, the voices are horrible - especially that of the main character. I understand he was supposed to be croaking most of the time. But there is croaking and there is this croaking - awful to listen to.
