From Graham Norton—the BAFTA Award–winning Irish television host and author of the “charming debut novel” (New York Journal of Books) Holding—a masterly and haunting tale of secrets and ill-fated love follows a young woman as she returns to Ireland after her mother’s death and unravels the identity of her father.

When Elizabeth Keane returns to Ireland after her mother’s death, she’s focused only on saying goodbye to that dark and dismal part of her life. Her childhood home is packed solid with useless junk, her mother’s presence already fading. But within this mess, she discovers a small stash of letters—and ultimately, the truth.

Forty years earlier, a young woman stumbles from a remote stone house, the night quiet except for the constant wind that encircles her as she hurries deeper into the darkness away from the cliffs and the sea. She has no sense of where she is going, only that she must keep on.

With wistful and evocative prose, A Keeper is sure to appeal to “fans of sensitive character studies” (Publishers Weekly) and brilliantly illustrates Graham Norton’s clear-eyed understanding of human nature and its darkest flaws.

Interesting story. For me the plot of the story came in at chapter 12. From there all the excitement begins.

Nice Story

Well constructed and well written, the book had a plot that hinged on a sequence of events too improbable to be believed. Each decision by the each character had to be perfectly coordinated to get to the next “event.”

Good enough but the fantastic plot left me rolling my eyes thinking, “Really?!?”

Narration was excellent.

Plot Too Improbable

I thoroughly enjoyed Graham Norton‘s first novel. This one had a lot going for it. Unfortunately plot points that should have been fleshed out weren’t, merely just skimming their surface.

Enjoyable, but could have been better

I liked all of it. I ordered it because Mr Norton was on with Steven Colbert and it piqued my interest. I loved the audible rendition as I can listen to it while working around my house. It was very well done and the story was a joy to hear unfold. Thank you so much and I will now look into more of his books. I love to read and now I have a new author.

Very enjoyable.

This story was very endearing about the circle of life and the depths that people will go to for those that they love.

The overlapping stories of these 3 mothers and the lengths that they went to for family... its a great listen.

Sweet and sour
