From New York Times best-selling author, Lynn Cahoon, comes a new Cat Latimer mystery. Santa's on his way, but the house Cat shares with her best friend and a monthly writing retreat isn't even decorated yet.

Christmas is coming early to Cat Latimer's Writers Retreat. Cat and the gang aren't feeling the Christmas spirit. First up on her to do list, the last retreat of the year. A group of nonfiction authors dying to get into the Covington library. When one writer is found dead before the first retreat session, Cat must find the killer before he puts her on his naughty list.

I love the Jill Gardner series so I switched to this one as I eagerly await the next. I like the story button feel like it’s a prelude to Sister-wives with a side of SWF. I’m always fussing at the story because like most ongoing series, she never learns to take precautions like locking Michael’s study and other rooms that are off limits. The three talking amongst themselves about which guest could be the murderer when they’re standing on the other side of the door. Our picking up info from others and either dismissing or forgetting it—but never telling your uncle the police chief.

Isn’t it possible to have cozy mysteries where they build on past experiences?

Just sayin’

It’s just a little intellectually lazy

A retreat for non-fiction writers is a first for Kat. But one of the Eros killed within an hour of arrival. What a way to start off and the seasonal pressure is building. Great series.

I love this series and wanted to catch up quickly on this new one so listened to the audio version instead of reading. After so many books in the series, the characters had distinct voices and quirks in my head and it wasn’t the way the narrator dramatized them so it was extremely distracting for me. I don’t think the narration was bad, it was just hard to jump into multiple books and a few years in.

Love the author but the narration missed for me

I hate to say, but the premise sounded great, but the story so poorly written, and the acting is juvenile

Ugh

I have enjoyed this series, up to now. This book seemed like a rush job, the plot was forced and the dialog was pot-boiler. It was very stale and well below the standard of the other books in the series. Adding to my disappointment is the narration was flat, like she was reading it for the first time and didn't listen to or even read any of the other books. There was a lack of personality and believable in the voices.
The book in total came across as a cheap hallmark made for t.v. movie.

Platitude are us...or at least in this book
