Monsters aren’t born. They’re refined.

The Rose Killer has perfected her work.

Thirteen victims. Thirteen flawless scenes. Each one precise. Controlled. Beautiful. A white paper rose left behind like a signature no one else can read.

She does not kill in chaos.

She waits.

She plans.

She folds herself into normality and lets the world forget she exists.

Until someone touches the pattern.

A mistake is made. A line is crossed. And the careful stillness she’s built her life around begins to fracture.

This is not a story about blood or panic or madness.

It is about restraint.

About intelligence.

About the quiet satisfaction of doing something perfectly

To Be Evil: A Killer’s Instinct is a psychological thriller told from inside the mind of a predator who understands evil not as impulse—but as design.

Listen carefully.

The next rose is already being folded.

A gripping read that takes a unique look at the mind of a meticulous serial killer known as the Rose Killer. The story focuses on the restraint and intelligence of the main character rather than just random choas. Sometimes the pacing felt a little slow especially during the planning phases, but it's an intense psychological thriller nonetheless.

Chilling

Meticulous. Detailed. Precise. Cautious. Observant. These are not only traits of a successful serial killer who has avoided capture, they are correspond to the level of atmospheric descriptions that make this story such a delightful listen. Crafted with the architecture of an origami model, the tight creases and multi-dimensional characters take us to a place rife with dark desires and impulses. Narration by Reuben Ashcroft captures the steady cadence and intent of the predator, and the calculating frustration of the detective on their trail. A beautiful story crafter to get you thrilling. A view of a killer to excite you for a nightly read. A female killer is such a good twist, what would drive such a person to care out such horrible acts? Is it by design or did something happen?

This one really got under my skin in a good way. What makes it work is not cheap shock, but control. The voice feels cold, calculated, patient... and that makes everything way more unsettling. I liked that the tension comes from precision and psychology instead of just trying to gross you out or go full chaos. There’s something deeply creepy about a mind that treats evil like craft, almost like art, and that idea is handled pretty well here. The whole white rose detail is strong too... simple, elegant, memorable. At times it felt a little too in love with its own darkness, but honestly the atmosphere was so sharp that I didn’t mind much. Disturbing, polished, and weirdly beautiful. Solid thriller for sure.

In my opinion, this delivered a dark, addictive character study with a narrator who knows exactly how to lean into the menace without overdoing it. Ashcroft’s performance gives the story a sharp, chilling personality that really elevates the material. Some scenes feel slightly repetitive, but the repetition almost works because it mirrors the character’s spiraling mindset and keeps you hooked even when you’re uncomfortable. The narration adds this cold and unsettling edge to it.

Disturbing yet Fascinating
