Jenny Weston moves home to Bear Falls, Michigan, to nurse her bruised ego back to health after a bitter divorce. But the idyllic vision of her charming hometown crumbles when her mother's little library is destroyed.

The next-door neighbor, Zoe Zola, a little person and Lewis Carroll enthusiast, suspects local curmudgeon Adam Cane. But when he's suddenly found dead in Zoe's fairy garden, all roads lead back to her. Jenny, however, believes Zoe is innocent, so the two women team up to find the true culprit, investigating the richest family in Bear Falls, interrogating a few odd townspeople, and delving into old, hidden transgressions - until another body turns up.

Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Elizabeth Kane Buzzelli's quaint and compelling series debut will delight cozy mystery fans new and old.

Nothing ruins a really good story like having the reader mispronounce a main character’s name throughout. I cringed every time I heard it and it was almost enough to make me stop listening. Fortunately, the story was really good.

BTW the answer to the question, in case you too are unaware, is “zoh-ee”. Two syllables. Not “zoh”.

How is Zoe Pronounced?

A good story well narrated - what more could I ask for? I’ve enjoyed this very much, thank you.

Well worth listening

I loved the story line. But there was sooo much fluff that it was hard to follow

The character of Zoe, a know-it-all little person is so unlikeable I won't be reading/listening to any more "Little Library" mysteries. The tone her voice is read in sounds like a snotty elementary school teachers' pet who's completely impressed with her own abilities. She exhibits no empathy or care, only sarcastic retorts. The other characters are shallow and the secret behind the murders turns out to be depressingly mundane. Was hoping for better. I listened to the bitter end.

Unappealing characters

self pitying, self obsessed woman, stays in a bad marriage, until her husband leaves her. Her sister asks her to go back to their home town and take care of their mother who is so tired that she can't even do her own food shopping. Her mother isn't over 65 but is as weak as a 90 yr.old.The daughter goes only because she has no where else to go.She gets there and makes no real attempt to take care of Mom.Instead she has been obsessed for18 YEARS with her high school boyfriend who cheated on her and married someone else. She has avoided her hometown for18 years, for fear that she will run in to him. She still thinks of the girl that he cheated with as the woman who ruined her life. She finds out that he's a partially employed drunk, who cheats on his wife ,and verbally abuses her in public.People tell her that she really dodged a bullet with him.Nothing changes her complete obsession with him.She never makes any attempt to get her Mom to the doctor .She's also rude and thoughtless ,to other people. The murder mystery is o.k. though she does a couple of really stupid things. There is a nice smart guy who likes her,but she's too obsessed with the drunken loser to give him much thought. The last couple of chapters gave hope that she might be better in future books but by that time,I found it hard to care.
