A deviously clever story featuring the beloved forensic detective Lincoln Rhyme.

When the FBI comes to Lincoln Rhyme with the news that a mysterious assassin is targeting him, the detective is not particularly concerned. With his long career putting away criminals, he is accustomed to threats on his life, and has designed his Upper West Side townhome to be secure against nearly any threat. But when the assassin gets too close for comfort, shadowing Rhyme and his wife Amelia Sachs as they go about their daily life, Rhyme determines to find out why this person is after him. He must put himself inside the mind of a killer in order to save his own life, and possibly the lives of those he loves most.

I have been waiting for a new Lincoln Rhyme book for ages. Everyone I have read has been either hard cover or paperback!! The stories are very well written, the characters are intriguing, and every story is believable!! The only shortcoming I had with this book is the narrator - BUT that is because I am not used to this particular person's reading. Overall, I think they did a great job, I just need to get used to them. I don't remember if this story segued into a longer novel or became a longer novel - it doesn't ring any bells - but I hope it does. A great short story and part of a great series!!!

Great Short Story

I’m not especially a fan of short stories but this one might be an exception.

A taste of what’s to come.

Quick story with known characters which ultimately amounts to nothing. There’s a set up for another story built-in, but this one leaves you feeling a bit unfulfilled.

Short setup

Lincoln Rhyme novels are truly intricate and full of character and meticiulous details. love it!

Fascinating!

so this is a prelim to the real story ?? waste of time and credit just produce the whole story
