PKD is classic sci-fi that can’t be beat.

PKD is classic sci-fi that can’t be beat. Stories that perpetually hold up in their quality and relevance. Voice work is solid and effective in the story telling. I will listen this one multiple times as it was quite enjoyable.

Where Mystery Meets Philosophy

I know I’m late to the party, but this was my first real dive into the work of Philip K. Dick—the legendary mind behind so much of modern science fiction. Despite these stories being written decades ago, the themes of science, war, and humanity still resonate today, showing just how timeless his vision really was.

This particular collection is well put together, offering a strong sampling of his style and imagination. For me, the standout entries were The Piper in the Woods and The Hanging Man, both of which capture that uneasy blend of mystery and philosophy Dick is known for. On the other hand, The Variable Man—ironically the longest story in the collection—was the weakest link, dragging a bit compared to the sharper, tighter tales.

Overall, this collection is a great introduction for anyone curious about Dick’s writing. It shows both his strengths and some of his rough edges, but above all, it demonstrates why he remains such a master of science fiction storytelling.

A great collection with a few low points.

Performance was fantastic and most of the stories are classics. a few of the shorts I was unfamiliar with. Only one of the works in this failed to hold my attention. A must have if you're a Heinlein fan.

Sad when each story ends!

I liked each story. Very thought provoking! Made me look forward to what might be next!
