Acting Sheriff Ben Logan hasn't heard from Leigh Somerall in a very long time, but it doesn't mean he can get her - or their whirlwind romance of 10 years ago - out of his head. When she calls out of the blue, it is with a strange request to protect her brother, Tony. When Tony dies just days later, Ben is charged with a different task - protecting Leigh and her nine-year-old son, TJ, from the killers. But how can Ben keep an eye on Leigh if she's doing everything in her power to avoid him? And could the secret that Leigh is keeping change Ben's life forever? Suspense, intrigue, and a touch of romance make A Promise to Protect perfect for listeners who like their stories with a hearty dose of mystery.

Exciting story

This was a great book - the plot was well thought out and captivating, the performance by the narrator was good. My most favorite part of the story was the relationship between Ben, Leigh and their son TJ (well for over half of the book Ben has no idea TJ was his). So, my issue is with Leigh's attitude while they were staying with Ben's parents. I understand her wanting to leave before anyone found out, however, I felt she was borderline rude, even toward her son. Even the narrator gave her a snotty voice during those moments. I'm sorry, it's just that rudeness is a pet-peeve of mine.

One minus, still recommend

God’s forgiveness is ALWAYS available; but we do need to first ask …
Bradley demonstrates this truth with a captivating story of an independent single mom struggling with a deep and personal secret while being the town doc. And when her high school love enters the picture he is now the town sheriff. Danger and mystery bring their lives to crossroad. Very enjoyable and satisfying story.

Kept my interest from beginning to end

Living in the southeast, I know a lot of people form Missippi and they can all pronounce their T's. Horrible narration. Great Story.
