I never imagined that I'd end up being a detective, but this whole being dead thing has really negated that career aptitude test I took in the tenth grade. When my twin sister, Pansy, joined the Perth Paranormal Society, we’d hoped to find out more about my unusual condition. Instead, we quickly realized that the houses we investigated had issues, but those problems weren’t caused by ghosts. Together, my sister and I decided to use my particular skill set to help them solve these mysteries. It's so much easier being nosey when you're a ghost.

Follow Gerri and Pansy as they join The Perth Paranormal Society and navigate teen life (and afterlife) in a small town that holds more secrets than either of them imagined…Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys meets Ghost Hunters in the perfect all-ages listen for lovers of the 90s, all things spooky, and all things mystery.

This was my second time reading A Shade of Winter, this time on Audible, and it absolutely holds up. The story has a beautifully melancholic tone and a strong sense of emotional honesty that lingers long after it ends.

What really stands out is the nostalgic 90s feel. It’s subtle but constant, grounding the story in a time that feels both familiar and a little haunting, like a half-remembered winter you can’t quite shake. The characters feel real, their relationships earned, and the atmosphere is thick in the best way.

The Audible narration enhances everything, adding a warmth and depth to an already engrossing experience.

If you like quiet, character-driven stories with heart, memory, and mood, this one is an easy five stars.

This was a great, unique and heartwarming YA story about a teenage girl getting a grip on her newfound afterlife and dragging her very much alive twin along for the ride. It was filled with 90's nostalgia, from the iconic dial-up internet tone, waiting for pictures to load, and cell phones with antenna! It gave scooby doo vibes with a twisty-turny mystery, meddlesome teens, and colorful characters! It was a fun read!

Sisterly Angst that even death can't squish
