Peggy Rector's life is no bed of roses, despite her hunky landscape gardener boyfriend, Jess Carson. Their relationship has its ups and downs, and his teenage daughter is no help. Both face critical decisions, and their romance hangs in the balance.

When an unpopular wealthy homeowner goes missing, a rural Texas community pulls together to search for him, but it's Peggy who finds Vince Koenig dead. The arrow in his abdomen belongs to her best friend's son, and the police are gunning for him.

Peggy's gut tells her he's innocent, and once again, the members of the Stinky Springs Ladies Social Club band together to investigate the crime. A second death hardens her resolve to solve the crime, but the murderer is on to her. A Christmas ice storm leaves Peggy isolated and vulnerable. Alone, she must outwit a clever killer to survive.

With a hint of humor this was a very enjoyable book. Great narrator.

This is the 2nd book in the series, but the first one I've listened to. It can be listened to as a standalone. I had no problems getting into the story. The story is well-written and the narrator did a great job with the characters.

I loved both Peggy Rector mysteries. The stories flow in a way that the reader is always engaged and wondering who the real culprit is. I think it is very original that Peggy has her circle of friends participate in the investigations and how she gathers information from everyone in her community to help clear the names of those who have been mistakenly accused. I would love to read more about Peggy Rector's mysteries. Thank you!
