The fairy lights are up and shoppers are flooding the snowy seaside promenade. It’s going to be a busy month at Forget-Me-Not Vintage, a magical shop with a warm heart where every item has a story to be told.

With bright red hair and an infectious smile, Dodie is a hopeless romantic and absolutely one of a kind, just like the pieces in her shop. When Dodie finds a love letter in the pocket of an old woollen coat, she makes it her mission to deliver it to its rightful owner. Following the address, she manages to persuade the handsome but reluctant new tenant, Edward, to help her with her search.

As the story of the letter unfolds, Dodie is there, as always, to pick up the pieces and make things right. But who will be there for her when her own love story needs a helping hand? Is it too much to dream of a happy ending like the ones in the black-and-white movies she adores?

I loved it… Great personalities, great storyline, and good to know that there are still good people out there trying to do their best.🎈

A very sweet holiday listen

Couldn’t cheer for the main character since she couldn’t see the obvious solution to her so-called problem for the entire book. Her ‘dilemma/problem seemed an unsatisfying attempt at creating a plot & conflict . Hopefully each book in this Christmas series will get better.‘I

Main character remains foolishly immature throughout.

Very cute story with an upbeat thread throughout the entire book. It was so nice to read a truly heartwarming tale.

Very cute story

If you want something cute and light, this is your book! It’s fairly predictable, but low-stress and a breezy read. The story of the search for the letter writer would have been a whole lot shorter if just one person had known how to search census records properly for the residents of particular addresses, but best not to think too hard on the details!
I do wish I could find a green coat like hers, though!

Cute and sweet

this book did not live up to a good premise (for a Christmas read). would've been so much better without some of the unnecessary drama imo. (especially the boyfriend - could've done without that complication entirely - unnecessary angst and there was definitely enough going on without him). there was a good mix of very eclectic characters (although I felt the need to shove the grandmother at a geriatrician for a diagnosis as time went on, families can be so oblivious to real problems). I found the essential plot engaging and the prose was solid, but there was just so much that annoyed me for this to be the relaxing Christmas read that I was hoping for. and the ending felt a little rushed after all the pussy-footing around.
However, there are much worse books out there and at least this one is 'free' for now. not an entire waste of time - it had its moments and the narration was good, hence the 3☆

(I was also frequently annoyed by the ongoing implication that all people who like old movies + music are impractical, ditsy ludites vs people who just appreciate the classics)

disappointing
