Fr. Nestler carefully goes through the Gospel of Matthew revealing how the story of Jesus is told in his miracles, preaching, teaching and parables. All of these elements are blended together to present his believing community with one vivid and inspired explanation of Jesus. The drama and conflict in the Gospel gives meaning to the life of the Church, which throughout history has been in conflict with the world. Yet Jesus’ mission is to the entire world. In Jesus, son of Abraham and Son of Mary, the whole world received a blessing. From the arrival of the Magi at Bethlehem to the final commission of the Apostle to take the message throughout the earth at the end of the Gospel the universal impact of Jesus is asserted.
