When Abe McDaniels has his 10th birthday party, he receives a parcel in the post with a ring, which is identical to the ring-shaped birthmark he carries on his finger. He's unimpressed with the gift, but when a note falls from the packaging with a written warning, it suddenly gets his attention - "Your mom and dad are in trouble. You must come to help them."

On his 10th birthday, a mysterious gift leads Abe on an adventure to save his parents.

This 18 minute long story is deceptive. Within it is a fully developed, unique kid's fantasy world. There are the tropes of a chosen one with a destiny and his time-honored rescue quest. But Abe's Mu Adventure is very much not a knock-off of already successful YA series. Nor, refreshingly, is it grim and apocalyptic. It feels like just what the YA space needs right now.

Abe's Mu Adventure feels like the first draft or initial pitch of what could, and should, become a full novel if not a series of novels. The story is incredibly visual and well thought out. Additionally, the narration was fantastic -- excited and with fun voices.

Definitely pick up Taliaferro Alexander's first novel -- he is going places.

Loved the story line. This book will rekindle your childhood imagination. A short listen, but worth it. Waiting for the next installment.

Listened with my eleven year old. Long enough to tell a good story and short enough to keep his attention. Enjoyable listen. Highly recommend. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
